Sunday School

St. John Sunday School children and their families gathered at Clancy’s Pumpkin Patch at 7th Avenue and Lawton on Sunday, October 18, 2026, for a morning of autumn fun and fellowship.

The neighborhood institution offered a setting for children to play among the pumpkins while parents spent time together and strengthened their friendships.

Last week, St. John Armenian Church joyfully welcomed children for its first Bible Day Camp—a week filled with prayer, learning, service, Armenian culture, and friendship. Centered on the Holy Trinity and the Church, the camp invited children to discover that faith is not only something we learn about, but something we pray, sing, serve, and live together.

St. John Armenian Church is exploring a new Bible Day Camp for children ages 5-11 this July! Fill out our interest survey to help us gauge interest and plan the best experience for our parish youth.

St. John Parish is pleased to announce that applications for Hye Camp are now open to all active children and youth of our parish. Hye Camp offers a wonderful opportunity for young people to grow in faith, build lasting friendships, and take part in a meaningful Armenian Christian camp experience. Families with eligible children and youth are encouraged to begin preparing their applications now and to take advantage of this opportunity for the summer ahead.

On Sunday, May 18, 2025, the St. John Armenian Church community gathered to celebrate the culmination of another meaningful and spiritually enriching Sunday School year. The celebration took place following the Divine Liturgy, filling the sanctuary and parish hall with joy, gratitude, and a deep sense of unity in faith.

On Sunday, September 15, 2024, St. John Armenian Church joyfully celebrated the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, one of the most significant feasts in the Armenian Apostolic Church calendar. The celebration was marked by a sense of reverence and community, as the faithful gathered for the Divine Liturgy and participated in the sacred tradition of the Antasdan—the special adoration service at the conclusion of the liturgy. This ancient rite, conducted in the church courtyard, is a time-honored way to offer prayers for the four corners of the world.

We are delighted to announce that registration for the 2024/2025 Sunday School year at St. John Armenian Church is now open! We invite parents to enroll their children in this enriching journey of spiritual growth and education within our warm and welcoming community.

Classes Begin on September 15 at 10:30 AM

Classes will begin on Sunday, September 15, with our schedule remaining consistent at 10:30 AM. This timing allows our students to benefit from a comprehensive program while providing parents the opportunity to participate fully in the Divine Liturgy.

In recent weeks, our St. John Sunday School has hosted several exciting guest speakers, each addressing a variety of topics. As part of our 'Get To Know Our Elders' program, Rita Takvorian shared her family's history and their connection to St. John, alongside insights into their successful business, Haig's Delicacies. On our newly designated 'Deacon's Sundays,' Dn. Kirk Hourdajian delved into the ranks of the clergy, while Dn. Andy Ylitalo emphasized the significance of the Eucharist. Louise Nalbandian led an engaging session on liturgical music, much to the delight of the children.

On the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, our parish was abuzz with activities, devotion, and the spirit of community. This special day not only marked a significant event in our liturgical calendar but also the joyous relaunch of our Sunday School.

We're excited to share that registration for the upcoming Sunday School year is now open! As we gear up for another year of spiritual growth and education, we invite parents to enroll their children in this enriching journey. Prospective familes can register via our website now.
