It's been four years since our last Food Festival at St. John San Francisco, a tradition as old as the parish itself. This year, we embarked on a passionate journey to revive this cherished celebration. Yet, our excitement was overshadowed by the heart-wrenching crisis in Artsakh. Witnessing thousands of Armenians fleeing persecution and leaving their homeland behind, we grappled with how to approach our upcoming festival, especially given the close ties we have to the affected region.

On November 19 and 20, during his pastoral visitation to St. John Armenian Church of San Francisco, His Eminence Abp. Hovnan Derderian, accompanied by Mr. Derik Ghookasian, Chair of the Diocesan Council, presided over several gatherings, most notably the 80th Anniversary of St. John Armenian Church, and a pilgrimage to the historic landmark and Genocide Monument, the Mt. Davidson Cross.

Celebrating Assumption at this Year's Picnic

On Sunday, August 14, 2022, St. John Armenian Apostolic Church celebrated the Feast of Assumption of the Holy Mother of God. The Festal Divine Liturgy was celebrated joyously by Parish Priest, Fr. Mesrop Ash, along with the Altar Servers and Choir members. During the Spiritual Message Fr. Mesrop talked about the priceless gifts that are given to us, the gift of body and blood of our Lord Jesus where we find salvation.

After two years of lock down due COVID-19, St. John Armenian Church of San Francisco once again open its doors to present classical music by professional musicians.

On Saturday, May 14, 2022, UCLA VEM Ensemble string quartet and the soprano soloist performed a very impressive and moving concert.

Fr. Mesrop Ash, welcomed everyone and expressed his gratitude to the performers and invited Professor Movses Pogossian, Director of UCLA Armenian Music Program to host the event.
