Blessing of the Water at St. John Armenian Church of San Francisco.

On Sunday, October 18, 2015, The water blessing service was conducted with the newly blessed Holy Muron, which had been blessed by His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. This service was held according to the decree of Diocesan Primate, His Eminence Abp. Hovnan Derderian, such that every parish upon receiving the new batch of blessed chrism should celebrate the occasion by blessing water and distributing it to the faithful.

Before the service Fr. Mesrop Ash explained the significance of the Holy Muron in the Armenian Church, some background about the preparation and blessing of the Holy Muron which occurs every seven years, and this signifigance of this years "Muron of Victory". The service started with Amen Alleluia hymn sung by the choir and the congregation, followed by Gospel readings. Than Fr. Mesrop poured the newly blessed Holy Muron in to the water which symbolizes the Holy Spirit into the water, while singing the sacred hymns “Arakelo aghavno". Upon conclusion of the service, the deacons distributed the blessed water to the congregation.
