As the last days of Summer play themselves out with our vacations concluding and our children returning to school, St. John hosts its Annual Picnic. This year was simply a pleasant occasion to enjoy the fellowship of our community, set against the backdrop of the beautifully forested Huddard Park on a bright, sunny day at the close of the Summer season.

The picnic began with the observation of the morning prayers of the Armenian Church, conducted by Fr. Mesrop. He offered a simple spiritual message at the conclusion of the prayer service, reflecting on the nature of divine gifts and the importance of cultivating a sense of gratitude in our daily lives. “We give thanks to providence of the Lord when we bless the fruits of the harvest. It reminds us that just like the fruit we enjoy, everything sweet originates from the love of the Almighty for His creation.” He invited the attendees to take a moment to reflect on things they are grateful for in their life.

A picnic wouldn’t be a picnic without BBQ! Along with the many devoted members of St. John who volunteered to work the grills and help prepare the day's meal, members of the Trex fraternity where present to offer “kebab support.” Despite working in the heat they all worked for many hours to serve the nearly 200 guests who gathered for the occasion.

It was delightful to see all of the children and youth of our church gathered together enjoying the jovial atmosphere, playing sports or tavloo, even helping serve and prepare food.

The Parish Priest and Parish Council thank all of those who attended this year’s picnic, and especially all those who volunteered their precious time. Next year we’ll be searching for an even bigger venue to accommodate our growing church.
