On August 17, 2024, St. John Armenian Church hosted a meaningful volunteer event titled "Healing & Creation: Volunteer Day," with 12 dedicated individuals coming together to make a difference.

The event took place at the Bison Paddock in Golden Gate Park, where participants contributed to restoring the habitat of the endangered white-crowned sparrow. Volunteers engaged in vital activities such as weeding and tending to a garden of native plants, essential for the sparrow's nesting and overall ecosystem health.

Fr. Mesrop spoke to the group on the healing power of fulfilling our roles as co-creators and stewards of God's creation. He emphasized that, by acting as caretakers of the environment, we align with the divine purpose established in us through the act of being created in God's image. This role of stewardship not only aids in the healing of creation but also reflects our deeper spiritual connection and responsibility.

The day was a wonderful opportunity for participants to engage in hands-on conservation work while reflecting on their spiritual connection to creation. It underscored our Year of Healing theme, reminding us of our role in nurturing and preserving the world entrusted to us by God.
