Clergy bless grapes during the Feast of the Assumption at St. John Armenian Apostolic Church

On Sunday, August 16, St. John Armenian Apostolic Church joyfully celebrated the Feast of the Assumption of the Holy Mother of God. The Divine Liturgy was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Mesrop Ash, parish priest.

Dn. Mikayel Margaryan served as the day’s homilist, reflecting on the humility and devotion of St. Mary. The parish also thanked him for his year of devoted service to the St. John community as he prepares to relocate to Los Angeles.

Following the service, the Great Blessing of Grapes was offered, with the participation of Rev. Fr. Garabed Tel Fayan. The ceremony reminded the faithful of God’s abundant gifts and our calling to receive and share them with gratitude.

The parish picnic that followed was very well attended. Parishioners, families, and friends enjoyed an afternoon of fellowship, Armenian music, and delicious kebab. ACYO also operated game booths as a fundraiser for the Children of Armenia Fund (COAF), supporting sports opportunities for children in rural Armenia.

We are grateful to the Parish Council, church staff, and dedicated volunteers whose work made the day possible—from setting up the event and preparing the barbecue to welcoming our parish family and guests.
